Tax Filing Time: It’s Now or Never!

Every year, it’s the same story… you tell yourself, “I’ll do it later”, then you procrastinate, forget, and suddenly… bam! The deadline is here, like a fully packed taxi in Kumba.

This year, no excuses! The CCAC-ACCC Calgary Free Tax Clinic is here to help. Free, simple, stress-free… and with a smile.

Who needs to file taxes in Canada?

Honestly, almost everyone. Even if you earned only a small amount, you should file your taxes. Students, families wanting to claim credits or benefits, newcomers… no one is exempt.

I remember last year, one participant came in saying, “I barely earn anything, is it even worth filing?” He ended up leaving with a refund he didn’t expect. Moral of the story: even if your income seems low, do it. It’s your money waiting for you!

Why Filing Taxes Matters

Filing taxes isn’t just about following the law. It’s mainly about getting back what’s yours.

You can claim credits, continue receiving benefits you’re entitled to, and avoid unpleasant surprises like penalties or suspended payments.

In short: it’s your money—go get it!

Tax Clinic Opening Period

Volunteers are ready to assist from February 17 to April 30, 2026.

Pro tip: showing up on April 29 saying, “I thought I still had time” is not ideal. Come early, stay relaxed, and leave with a smile.

Location

CCAC-ACCC Office, 3944 29 Street NE, Calgary.
Wednesdays: 1 PM – 5 PM | Saturdays: 9 AM – 5 PM
No excuses—there’s always a time to drop by!

Who can use the service?

The clinic is free for individuals and families with low to moderate income:

  • 1 person: ≤ $35,000

  • 2 people: ≤ $45,000

  • 3 people: ≤ $47,500

  • 4 people: ≤ $50,000

  • 5 people: ≤ $52,500

  • Each additional person: + $3,000

Sometimes, it’s nice to realize that even a “small” income can still get you a refund.

What to Bring?

  • ID and Social Insurance Number (SIN)

  • Bank information for direct deposit

  • All tax slips: T4, T4E, T5, T5007, T4A, T4A(P), T4A(OAS), T2202A (tuition)

  • Receipts for donations, medical expenses, child care, or RRSP contributions

I remember someone came without their T4s… almost left empty-handed! Please make sure you’re fully prepared.

What we can’t do?

The clinic does not handle complex cases such as Self-employment income, Rental income, Bankruptcies, Deceased persons’ returns, or Large interest income.

If your file looks like a full Canal 2 Movie plot with twists and turns, you’ll need a specialized tax service.
